Merton and Wandsworth Asylum Welcome is seeking an energetic, person-centred caseworker to join its small, dedicated team.
The ideal candidate
You will have an acute understanding of the issues faced by refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable migrants. You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships and clearly communicate complex information. You will be committed to encouraging the meaningful participation of service-users in decisions that affect them. You will be a resilient problem-solver with a ‘can-do’ approach with the ability to work creatively in a fast-paced environment to ensure positive outcomes for service-users.
Key elements of the role
- Providing casework, advice and advocacy which supports refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants to better understand and enact their rights and responsibilities
- Co-ordinating the running of two weekly half-day drop-in outreach sessions
- Recruiting and supervising drop-in support and advice volunteers
